If these views are typical, or even possible, for a product of the Pakistani army, then surely the future will be bright. Leaders like former Indonesian president Abdurahman Wahid and Musharraf are the best chance moderate Islam has of asserting itself in the face of Islamism. Who knows what the world would be like in 20 years, if real democracy finds a place in the Arab World, and tolerance finds a voice in Islam.
