Reader comment on item: Musharraf's Historic Speech

Sahid Masood talks a lot of sense. The history of humanity is long and ancient, with much worth salvaging, in the face of blind religious fanatics who sought in futility to wipe out all that went before. The Islamist history of humanity on earth begins in the desert sands barely 1400-odd years ago. And what a violent history, fired by naked greed and rapaciousness. There is good sense in the blashphemists who deny such a legacy for themselves and their own, while the others have chosen to go blind in the face of hard evidence.

As for Zee,... If one were to use that kind of language for American treatment of its poor in New Orleans -- where the girls were raped and then had their throats slit (by criminals) in an overcrowded Superdome -- to condem all in the US, it would fit the rhetoric that Zee uses against India and Indians. But the Islamists in fact are doing so, when they pass rabid fatwas against 'Satan America'.

The civilised world has learnt to see through their lies. They are fast burning their bridges behind them in a rare spectacle of brinksmanship, like Musharraf. Was Musharraf asked by anyone present at the briefing, about Daniel Pearl? -- Who was made to repeat the words, 'My father is a Jew, I am a Jew' etc. before being butchered like an animal in Karachi, Pakistan? Have they sentenced the perpetrators yet? For those who have missed it, the video is permanently enshrined on the Internet, which is so important in the face of the habitual liars of Pakistan. What is obvious there is that Daniel Pearl was hot on the trail of the 9/11 masterminds, and it was necessary to kill him in the interests of Pakistan.

Musharraf is the military dictator; the single overlord of Pakistan. Did he invite a Jewish or Israeli delegation to Pakistan this year, to walk its streets (even under the protection of Islamist military guards) to ascertain the truth of Jewish or minority rights in Pakistan? But such an invitation would have thoroughly exposed his doublespeak, right?
