Nothing New

It all reminds me of the old joke where a pollster asks a citizen "What is more dangerous to our national security, public ignorance or public apathy?" and the person replies "I don't know and I don't care." As long as we are only concerned with (to the point of being consumed by) strictly local and personal matters, we will get what we deserve.
