Attitude of Islam in the USA

Reader comment on item: [Fixing] Islam's Image Problem

Submitted by Al Karloff (United States), Jul 30, 2003 at 09:52

Your article concludes:

Improving Islam's reputation will require two steps: that the great institutions of American life reject all contact with CAIR and like groups, while moderate Muslims build sound organizations, ones that neither apologize for terrorism nor seek "the government of the United States to be Islamic."

I disagree, Islam must repudiate terrorism worldwide and name their terrorist activities in Israel as an example of criminal uncivilized behavior. Militant Muslims encourage their young to commit suicide with absurd promises of heavenly rewards if they kill themselves in the act of murdering non-Muslims.

Are these the actions of civilized humans or could it be that they are in the earliest stages of their mental and emotional evolutionary development and have not yet learned to think or reason, but only to follow their leaders most primitive directions? I believe they are living in the "dark ages" and their ( Muslims) capacity to become enlighted may be flawed somewhere in their genetic codes.

The solution is within Islam itself; it must change and teach freedom for all, democracy, equality, love for all humans and that life is the precious gift of all and must be safeguarded and never sacrificed. Those that cannot meet this standard must be identified as ememies of humanity.
