CAIR: 2 questions

Reader comment on item: [Fixing] Islam's Image Problem

Submitted by John W. Gast (United States), Jul 29, 2003 at 22:03

Thanks for alerting me, and many others, to the dangers of CAIR.

I do have two questions:
1.) Why don't we ever hear about this in the mainstream press, either on the right, like the Orange County Register, or the left (pick your favorite)?
2.) Why does our government cater to these men of CAIR, who are almost certainly subversive and potentially dangerous? I hope the FBI is watching them closely.

My support for moderate Muslims is great. Hooray for them!! We need them to speak up loudly not only for the sake of the rest of us, but for their own, here in America and for their fellows across Dar al-Islam.

Daniel Pipes replies:

1.) Funny you should pick the Orange County Register, which not long ago gave CAIR a platform, which it used to attack me (for my response, see http://www.danielpipes.org/article/984.) The media, like the government, the academy, and the churches, is very slow at recognizing an enemy because this is outside its purview. It's like legitimate business competitors being slow to realize that the Mafia is a different sort of rival.

2.) CAIR and the other Islamists have established themselves as the Muslim establishment.
