Reader comment on item: [Fixing] Islam's Image Problem

Submitted by William Kinney (United States), Jul 29, 2003 at 22:56

The Council on American-Islamic Relations as you describe it has an Islamist tinge. Its name designates it as a national political/ethnic/religious organization. The names of the other organizations you cite do not project themselves in this way. Competing organizations projecting national scope are needed. e.g. The American-Islamic Congress, American Muslim Federation. An identity which suggests national scope will draw the phone calls and news interviews. Thanks for the specifics.
