No such animal as a moderate Muslim

Reader comment on item: [Fixing] Islam's Image Problem

Submitted by H. Lewis (United States), Jan 30, 2004 at 13:48

While I'm a tremendous admirer of Mr. Pipes's, I regret that he continues to promote the.. idea of "the moderate Muslim." There is no such thing. Historically, the stance of Muslims to non-Muslims is "convert or die," or "submit and pay jihazyi." That is an untenable choice which I, a Christian, must reject ...

Everywhere one looks, Muslims are killing non-Muslims. Why? Is it because the Muslims are fanatical, or because the non-Muslims have acted against Muslims? No. Muslims kill because they are numerically superior or have numerical parity, have imposed Shariah or are seeking so to do, or are attempting to make a place Islamic. Is Muslim contradictory to the Koran? No, it is not. The Koran enjoins Muslims to do precisely what they're doing. If they fail to do as the Koran enjoins them to, then they are not good Muslims and can be killed.
