Reader comment on item: [Fixing] Islam's Image Problem

Submitted by ananymous (Saudi Arabia), Aug 10, 2003 at 15:01

The 9/11 attacks and other acts of terrorism have damaged Islam's image. It is my duty as a muslim to clear this misunderstanding. Islam is not a religion of terrorism. Islam does not support violence. If you want to know the truth about islam,i suggest you refer the Quran's translation written by a muslim .I will present an ayat that might change some of your views :
"Fight for Allah's sake those who fight you,
but do not be aggressors.
Allah does not like aggressors.(2:190)"

This ayat clearly forbids killing of innocent civilians. We are allowed to fight, but only to defend ourselves. It is my request that you should read the Quran first before judging Islam.I advice you to learn about Islam from muslims, not from views and articles.
