In January of 2014 a bomb (suspected to be planted by Muslim Brotherhood members and followers of Morsi) that exploded lead to significant destruction of the facade of the building and also damage to the interior of the museum

The good news? The Museum just opened its doors again and it is better than ever before

The collections are truly magnificent and must see for any student of Islam
