Why do you expect Muslims to honor other religious structures and artifacts when they are hostile to their own?

To be sure, destruction , or in the case of churches in the Near East and fire temples in Iran, wholesale appropriation is the modus operandi of not just conquering Muslim armies but assertive Muslim minorities as well.

However to be fair, they are just as harsh on their own ancient legacy as those of non Muslims. The Wahhabis for instance who consider other Muslims especially Sufis and Shias, not to mention Ahmaddiyas and Druze essentially idolators, went on a frenzy of destruction of ancient Muslim structures in Mecca and Medina, so much they didnt even spare Prophet Mohammads living quarters as well as those of his companions and other ancient structures and some mosques which they castigated as polytheist structures.

Wahhabis is but Islam taken to its logical extreme. The destruction of Muslim structures of by extremist Muslims is but another aspect of Muslims attacking other Muslims when there are no Kafirs to kill, tax or subdue. Nature abhors a vacuum, Islamism abhors a vacuum of violence.
