These coverings are alarming and offensive

Reader comment on item: Ban the Burqa - and the Niqab Too

Submitted by Mike Kurtzig (United States), Aug 5, 2007 at 21:29

I was just at Heathrow last week, passing through security, when a lady (I assume a lady) went through security with a niqab/burka; the question which quickly came to mind: how did the security guard know who was behind the mask? If these people want to follow their manner of dress, then go back to where you came from; we are not going to change our society to fit your arcane and offensive ways. You are no different then the Hamas militants that terrorize Gaza. We see and know that societies that keep their women under wraps and oppressed, continue to be backward, primitive and poor; your efforts to impose that misery on us will not succeed.
