Not giving credit for the good

Reader comment on item: Ban the Burqa - and the Niqab Too

Submitted by David W. Lincoln (Canada), Aug 3, 2007 at 10:57

Usually when a group makes out a case for exceptionalism, and they have a difficult time of proving why they are exceptional - hiding is the first reaction. Islam has been around for 1400 years, and I still haven't found evidences of healthy societies whose emblem is the crescent moon. It is simply a legacy of exploitation. So, misogny is justified and we go 'round and 'round and 'round, because of that group which refuses to learn from the past.

This is the legacy of the brigands who stormed out of the Arabian Peninsula 1400 years ago, and whether they have blood on their hands, or if they accomplish their deeds lawfully - the only good thing that Islam can lay hold of is to view the Virgin Mary as an honorable lady.
