Target Syria

Reader comment on item: Hold Damascus Responsible [for Hezbollah Violence in Southern Lebanon]
in response to reader comment: Hold Damascus Responsible

Submitted by Frank Marshall (United States), Aug 2, 2006 at 15:56

Fighting Hizbollah in Lebannon is treating the symptom not the problem. The problem is Iran and Syria. Israel should put Syria on notice that every rocket srtike on Israel will be met with an Israeli strike on Syrian infrastructure. That will likely stop rocket attacks on Israel.

As for the Syria/Iran mutual defense treaty, Iran has no easy way to assist or reinforce Syria. The can not reach Syria by ground route and If they try by air, Israel should enforce an aerial blocade of Syria. Any outcome short of stopping Iranian and Syrialn support to Hizbollah is only temporary and the whole exercise will have to be repeated. Israel must permanently stop the Hizbollah capability to fire rockets into Israel. Failure to do so will mark the beginning of the end for Israel.
