I can agree with a lot of what you have written here. Furthermore history is something that we can no more change - but only learn from.

What mistakes are the USA doing today? Trying to win 5 fractional half-hearted wars, everything done half or even less, spreading the resources thin, doing nothing to reduce dependence on oil imported from those who can and will blackmail USA, christian fundamentalism that repels good-hearted non-christians and non-fundamentalist christians, looking at world politics from the dollar view point etc. etc.

China and islamic world wish to gang up against the others. Can USA lead the defence of this other? I see no leadership in this respect in the USA. The US voters are proving to be politically very short-sighted and manipulatable.

Islam has its own way of doing damage to mankind and so also christianity has its own way. Just recently even Daniel Pipes compared the islamic danger with marxism and bolshevism and not with nazism and fascism. Is there some anti-marx fixation among conservative US citizens even today?

I don't know what you are referring to, but I routinely compare radical Islam to fascism and communism.
