Syrian Support for Hezbollah

Reader comment on item: Hold Damascus Responsible [for Hezbollah Violence in Southern Lebanon]

Submitted by Bill Greene (United States), Aug 1, 2006 at 21:15

This and many other views have implied, even relied upon, that Syria supports Hezbollah with weapons and financial aid, presumably also funneled from Iran. It is clear that Hezbollah is obtaining support somewhere but none of the articles substantiate that the support is from Syria, or from Iran for that matter.

It would be useful for the less informed to have greater insight to the support structure that is clearly needed for Hezbollah to build such a force containing the thousands of missiles the obviously have on hand. How about some articles describing Hezbollah's support structure.

Daniel Pipes replies:

A good idea, and the U.S. and Israeli governments have been laggard in getting this information out.
