International "peace keeping force is a bad idea

Reader comment on item: Hold Damascus Responsible [for Hezbollah Violence in Southern Lebanon]

Submitted by chadashi (United States), Aug 2, 2006 at 12:24

If I were israel, I would not be satisfied with a European peace keeping force that is one, sympathetic to Hezbollah. Two, toothless, ie, having no power to intervene or stop terrorists actions. Last but not least, not inclined to stick it out and keep the peace by force if necessary. I believe they would cut and run at the first sign of trouble.

If you remember, during the six days war when Eygpt crossed the sinai pennisula, there were UN "Peacekeepers" stationed there who stepped aside without a word.
