Reader comment on item: Christianity Dying in Its Birthplace

Submitted by Ben Shniper (United States), Sep 13, 2005 at 14:44

"We burned their houses because they dishonored our family, not because they are Christians." This statement is false, but the speaker believed it, thinking it obvious that Christians should follow the Muslim laws. They believe that they were enforcing the law, not breaking it. And the PA clearly agrees.

Had the Khouriyyes been Muslim, there would have been no "dishonor", nor would there have been honor killings and pillaging. This clear lack of equality permeates all Muslim concepts of justice - one set of justice for Muslims and another set for non-muslims. They don't even see the distinction, taking it for granted that non-Muslims should follow Muslim laws while they need not respect any other laws. No Muslim asks: "What if the religious roles were reversed?"

This is why Khouriyye, the Christian boss, is in jail and the Muslim hoodlums are free. See, in this inverted logic, it was Khouriyye who "incited" the Muslim youths to riot. The rioters were guilty, if anything, of over-zealous piety. The rights of a Muslim and a Christian are not equal here. Khouriyye may even be blamed for the death of his lover - it was more wrong for an infidel to have consensual relations with a muslim woman than to murder that muslim woman. Thus Khouriyye may face a murder trial and be found guilty - for necessitating the honor killing.

This is the warped justice that is everywhere in the PA. Known terrorists are the leaders of the police, known racists and terror apologists are the clergy, known thieves are the treasurers, and people willing to use ambulances as bomb-carriers (Hamas) are providing medical treatment.

Greenhouses that were providing the main source of economic activity for Gaza are now being looted and sold as scrap. Note the lack of logic and introspection.
