in response to reader comment: Sufi Islam is not real islam, Response to Shazia

Faqi Hussain stated:

"I am sorry, anyone reading your response will come to the conclusion that you are just another apologist for Islam."

My Response:

Faqi, I understand and respect your conclusion. You have the right to hold whatever view you hold. I am not here to convince anyone.

Faqi Hussain stated:

"If you are a true believer of Mohamed and his message; you cannot deviate from it and interpret it to suit your needs, ask any Islamic scholar and they would agree with me. Its absolute - no deviation, period."

My Response:

Do I not have the right to interpret things and express them here? Do you not recognize that each one of us has a unique way of seeing things and drawing conclusions from them?

Is it really courteous to try to force me to interpret your way or someone else' way?

Faqi Hussain stated:

"Why on earth would any devotee of God want to be a 'Muslim"? When the Muslim God (Allah) is so demanding & vengeful & calls for blood."

My Response:

Faqi, I understand and respect your conclusion about "Muslim" God. Is it okay with you if I disagree with you and hold a different image of the One and Only Reality?

As stated elsewhere, there is a wisdom behind human differing from each other. It is an opportunity for us to learn to co-exist peacefully despite our differences and not try to impose our perceptions and interpretations and practices on others while living as the law-abiding citizens of a country.

The Islamists need to understand this.

The path to self-knowledge and self-actualization, which is available to all of us, teaches and trains us to move away from the lower patterns of the self, which desire to control others in order to feel in control and in power, and move towards its highest patterns, which is in a state of contentment, non-judgmental, in harmony with its reality/nature, and does not desire to control others or impose anything on others.
