Equality not a right wing/left wing thing

Reader comment on item: The Paterson 'Protocols'
in response to reader comment: Hilter was right wing

What does inequality have to do with the right wing? I understand that it is a common insult by leftists to accuse Conservatives of beliefs of bigotry and social inequality. But that is simply an insult conjured up against right wingers because right wingers don't consider left winger's references to these issues as important. That doesn't make the insult any truer than accusing leftists of not being patriotic just because in war time leftists tend to criticize the President for using the military option.

Leftists have a long tradition, as do others of course, of sustaining social privilege at the expense of "equality". However, Hitler was not guided in his behaviour by any particular view about any particular group of people and how they did not deserve "equality". The word equality and Hitler should not even appear together in any discussion, because his motives had nothing to do with "equality" or "freedom".

One cannot refer to his murderous treatment of Jews or other non desirables, as resulting from his views on "equality". He was a mad man guided by an insane obsession with his race, an obsession that in many cases was almost as callous towards his own people as it was to others.
