Calling bluff: good idea - won't work

Reader comment on item: The Paterson 'Protocols'

Submitted by Wayne L (Canada), Nov 14, 2002 at 23:11

Connor MacLeod proposes, sincerely, for Israel to withdraw from the West Bank and Gaza to prove that the Arabs are not interested in peace. I wish it would work, but recent history demonstrates that it won't.

Look what happened in Lebanon. Israel withdrew - even the UN agreed that they complied in their withdrawal. But Hizbullah demands the Shebaa farms.

The Arabs would demand that Israel also withdraw from Jerusalem - ALL OF IT.

Perhaps the best evidence is that the Arab governments/dictators have never acknowledged that they were wrong from 1948 on in not recognizing Israel's right to exist.

Mr. MacLeod is to be commended for his desire to see truth, justice and peace reign in the middle east.
