Dissertation...Hitler and Marx

Reader comment on item: The Paterson 'Protocols'

Hello...

I'm a newbie and I've come the realization that once I had considered myself once very educated, on the undertaking of my dissertation, I feel far from intelligent or enlightened. I must say you guys, after reading a few of your topics are an inspiration. I'm planning on spending about 2 years gaining and developing as much knowledge to strengthen my political stance and arguements.

Now on to my question. I had previously gotten into a debate with a newcomer into the political science realm, and I must say that I lost the debate....Mainly by the look on her face and the way she shot down my views on the similarities of Marx and Hitler. This leads me into my question...

It was her adamant opinion that there was no way that Hitler and Marx were similar. And from the moment..I felt they had major similarities which many of you pointed out. Because of her preconcieved conceptions of Hitler and the pressure I felt that I had to teach her, which I was not in the mood to do..the conversation went understandably sour. But it lead to a peak in my interest...

I want to take up the challenge of proving and debating the similarities between Marx's Communist Manifesto and Germany's Success under Hitler (or Hitler's Germany pre-and-til WWII). I was wondering if any of you out there can point out any great books that I should look at which would help me. I want to address mainly the socio-economic and also international related aspect of both parts...also on the historical backgrounds and pretty much their influence.

My purpose is to not dispel the views of Hitler as an 'evil incarnate', but to sort of acknowledge what he did for some of the people of Germany, also his historical importance on more than a murderous (ethnic cleansing) madman, and also the past and future effects of this on the International World playing ground.

If anyone has no bias towards Hitler or can help in anyway in the refinement of my dissertation, as well as kind of lead me on a interesting path tht would be of help, tihs meaning books and videos and journals of any kind....I would be very thankful.

Sincerely,
V
