"Modesty" for all? No thanks.

Reader comment on item: Niqabs and Burqas - The Veiled Threat Continues

Submitted by Prashant (United States), Oct 29, 2016 at 08:42

Dear Dr Pipes: It is said that Muslim women wear burkhas, hijab, and naqab for modesty and they do so completely by their own choice. But, then, the State of Iran forces Muslim and non-Muslim sportswomen to wear Hijab while participating in sports in Iran (so nice of them because everyone must be 'modest').

The 9th Asian Air gun Women's Shooting Championships is scheduled to be held in December in Tehran. A brave Indian non-Muslim woman shooter Heena Sidhu recently decided to withdraw from this tournament because she did not want to be forced to wear a Hijab (9th Asian Air gun Shooting Championships scheduled to be held in December).

Another dent into the cause of forced-Islamism! Forcing sportswomen to dress in inconvenient uniforms is an absurd idea. It is a beginning. The day when even Muslim women decline he favor is not too far.
