"The ratio of radioactive isotopes in the bones tells us approximately when the individual was buried; it says nothing about the person's age when he died"

What I was getting at is maybe you could judge the age by the cumulative amount of radioactive substance stored in the bones. So - after 10 years - you have X, after 50 years 5X and so on. Maybe that would work - if you could guarantee the skeleton came from the same areas that other people did. i.e. it would not work nowadays because say, a 40 year old Ukrainian from near Chernobyl who moved to Australia may have 1.5 times the amount of radioactive isotope Y in his bones as a 40 year old Australian.

"and those Afghans and Syrians are paying the price with their devastated countries and their poverty. That is their responsibility, not ours. We aren't morally obligated to provide them with "no-fly" zones, nor with anything else."

Absolutely right. That's pretty much what meant when I told my Afghan doctor friend that 'we them nothing." The way I see it - or forebears sweated and fought and died to bequeath us the wonderful legacy we have been given. So those cultures must do the same to bring themselves out of their poverty mentality. They have a head start anyway - with the internet and availability of technology. It should not be hard for them to do what , for example, Israel has done to its territory. It just requires eating humble pie and working towards a clear aim. Unfortunately the only clear aim most of those cretins seem to have is 'death to the Jews', and the global introduction of their 'sharia' and caliphate.

I was just thinking while watching the news tonight (with the usual islamic atrocities from whichever continent you care to name) - how islam is like a big ponzi scheme, lots of devotees trying to hook people into it, so that they in turn can hook others . But there's nothing at the centre. No real wealth - just hopes of wealth.

Yes, kiwis are allowed to move here as long as they have no criminal record that required jail time and (I think) don't have some major illness. There are lots of HK chinese here - especially in Sydney - and now also mainland Chinese are moving here. Stats out the other night - 1 in 4 adults in Sydney was born O/S. Top numbers are Brits, Kiwis, Italians, Greeks, Slavs, but in the last decade lots of Chinese, Viets and now Indians. And yes, if you had children living here, you probably could get in under 'family reunion'. They let everyone else in. Evidence of that is the myriad of very elderly Chinese you see walking around in chinese-dominated suburbs. They become child minders for the offspring of their aspiring, dollar focused children.
