"'I didn't say anything about interpretations. I said, 'what is "right", is to obey God; and what is "wrong" is to disobey Him. That ought to be obvious.'

It totally has to be about interpretations. In the case of the imam - as far as e is concerned - he is obeying 'God' and you aren't and his interpretation of God's will' is that you become a muslim, pay jizyah, or die etc Your interpretation is that he is NOT doing 'God's will'

With US conscripts - they were there in Vietnam - and basically had the choice of kill or be killed. Many chose the former.

"...also was taught, in the US Army, by a native Vietnamese teacher, that the only South Vietname se who supported fighting the Communists were the Roman Catholics, who represented 12% of the population and 33% of the Army. Today, the Vietnamese are our allies; and American deserters and draft dodgers were all granted amnesty..."

So you were in the Army - but were also a draft dodger/conscientious objector/whatever?

"..I don't trust any human. I trust God -- that's sufficient..."

Well there's trust and there's trust. You trust your local storekeeper is not going to blow your head off with a shotgun next week when you visit his store... or that your wife won't knife you in the back tonight.

Donald Sutherland's line in the Italin Job was a classic - "

"I trust everyone, I just don't trust the devil inside them"
