Hi, Waz

While on that subject, recent press from Isis territory shows they are plumbing new depths in depravity and barbarity - and proving to the world that calling them animals sullies the reputation of all non-human creatures.

Indeed.

These beings have such evil minds and act unafraid of consequences no doubt because they actually believe the more pain and terror they inflict , the more brownie points they're getting from allah.

Yes, that seems to be a problem.

I've been musing lately, on the whole matter of "brownie points", of "good and evil", "eternal reward", etc. My son commented a while back, that researchers have found that the "high" from drugs is not a feeling of "pleasure". Rather, it's "the feeling you get, when you are right". That feeling of "rightness" is associated with chemical discharges in the brain, which some recreational drugs mimic. It seems that nature has programmed into us a sense of "right" and "wrong", which recreational drug user try to short circuit. Put another way, these people want to FEEL "right" without actually BEING right.

Somehow, those Muslie Wuzlies get a charge out of blowing people up, because it gives them a mental rush. The human mind is far from foolproof: It can be swayed by peer pressure, for instance. From a strictly survivalist point of view, "doing what everyone else is doing" can register as "being right". Deer and sheep probably have just such a reward engrained into them: It's called the "herd instinct".

Even in nature, there are contratians who get a chemical reward from going AGAINST the herd. They may have mental defects, such as Asberger's syndrome, Attention Deficit Disorder, etc. I am such a person, and I believe it comes naturally. My father and many of my ancestors were similar. Nature provides a certain number of these, for those situations where the herd is wrong; and because of this quirk in the few, the species is preserved.

Jeremiah was a contrarian; so was Ezekiel. So were all the prophets. In fact, prophets would not be needed if everyone were already doing the right thing, would they?

I imagine the ISIL kooks see themselves as great prophets, or something of that nature. I believe they're a natural phenomenon.
