in response to reader comment: Consiousness, God and Reality

Metaphysical discussions can just hopefully give the tiniest glimpses of possibilities/actualities.Real experience of them is infinitely more important.

"I am an English speaker, and I believe in the existence of one whom the Bible calls "God". Is this "God" equivalent to "consciousness"?"

It is infinite consciousness. If you can picture it along the same lines as 'cosmic strings' - being everywhere and underlying all phenomena and existing in every dimension - that would come close. But it's nature is supremely conscious. It's not just a blind force like electricity. We are just sparks in space having the gift of having a human life and the potential to experience he source of our being.

If "consciousness" is somehow related to "self-awareness", then I would say "No".

of course consciousness is related to self-awareness. The more non-ego Self aware you are , the more conscious you are and the more harmoniously you will act.

After all, the Devil of the Bible is very self-aware, very conscious of himself; and others are conscious of him, his nature and his machinations. Yet the Devil is not part of God;

Everything is a part of 'God'. Ultimately , looked at in this way, - only 'God' exists. The good and the bad, the smallest processes in the infinitude of the nano world in each atom and the largest galactic clusters and all the spaces in between. It is everything.Nothing can exist outside of the 'Ground of Being'.

he is destined to spend eternity in the "Lake of Fire", ...... and his worshippers and followers are forever separated from those in the fiery lake, those in the "outer darkness" as it says elsewhere, metaphorically:

If you choose unconsciousness and especially if you choose evil actions, taking the illusion as being real by focusing on presumed external rewards (i.e. 'outer darkness' ) in this life - when the time comes to leave - it only makes sense that you'll get what you've chosen. Unconsciousness - and/or the effects of your evil. What awaits the Isis cretins? And if you die with no light in your heart - beware.

One explanation is that you get to re-experience your own lifetime - but from the point of view of all the souls (consciousnesses) that you've interacted with. And seeing it in the clarity of absolute truth - with no way to defend or rationalise it all away. Wow - what a thought! Scary if you'rve been doing the wrong thing. Pure Hell if you've been raping women/men/children and cutting off people's heads.

But heaven if you have a clean heart , calm mind and have meant well and done good to all those sparks in space you've met along the way.
