Religion, Politics and Historical Revision

Reader comment on item: Musing on History

Submitted by Michael S (United States), Apr 13, 2015 at 19:05

Most of the Bible is written in the form of history: It isn't just a book of instructions, as many people seem to think, but of three main elements:

  1. Instruction
  2. People living out the instruction, either in obedience or disobedience, and
  3. People bearing the rewards or consequences

Without the history, the story of people living out the ancient precepts, those precepts are neither refuted nor validated. People today, such as the Leftists and the Islamists, are trying to substitute their own precepts for those in the Bible; but while doing this, they find it necessary also to revise history to fit their imaginations.
