There is no academic freedom left to debate about. If you are a leftist you punish all the people who show even a hint of being conservative. If you are a conservative, you bemoan the persecution and plot your revenge through bills of rights. That is not freedom. It is an open conflict that is tearing the heart out of education, and has so seriously damaged our universities in the eyes of the world I think we face a serious risk of falling behind; so far behind, in fact that in some disciplines, the humanities for example, it may takes us another hundred years to catch up.
