The Red-Islamofascist Alliance

Reader comment on item: Conservative Professors, an Endangered Species

Submitted by Peter J. Herz (Taiwan), Apr 12, 2005 at 21:16

The last time I was Stateside, I had an "Aha!" moment when a radical feminist I knew said that we might have to give up a few liberties to accommodate Muslim sensibilities.

The radicalization of American Academia was not accomplished by a more rigorous and true analysis sweeping all before it, but by sit-ins, demonstrations, public humiliations, and other uncivil acts during the 1960's and 1970's. There was also the judicial use of lawsuit or threat thereof against people with unpopular opinions. This is one reason why, when a radical tells me he disagrees with what I say but will fight to the death for my right to say it, I count the spoons.

I now see that radicals, when faced with a polite and civil disagreement, will be as fierce and fire-breathing as the day is long. When faced with people who may do them actual bodily harm or who truly have no respect for rights, they crumple. Just as the alliance between radical Islamicists and Aryan Nations types shows that there are some who hate the JOOOOOZ more than they love their own mothers, the Left-Islamofascist alliance shows the immoderate Left to be a purely destructive and negative force.
