I'm one

I'm a Professor and department Head of a Ph.D.-granting Philosophy Deparrtment at a Reseach 1 tier university (University of Cincinnati), and I'm a self-described political conservative. There aren't many of us, but that's hardly a result of "hiring bias." There aren't many in the pools of applicants for our advertised faculty positions. No surprise there, because there aren't many conservatives who put up with the poverty and silly demands most Ph.D. graduate programs impose on students. Remedying that is going to require a lot more than "involvement" by "stakeholders" of academic institutions. ... Pointing some conservative undergraduate students to Ph.D. programs and exposing them to the joys of academic life are far more effective steps.
