Banerjee is at his illogical best

Reader comment on item: Friendless in the Middle East
in response to reader comment: My point is what makes Muslims unemployed in Australia

Submitted by Josh (United States), Nov 14, 2011 at 23:51

Dear Dr Pipes: The reader Debanjan Banerjee says: "....Muslims in Australia (particularly those from Lebanese origins) do not want to work or do you not provide them education over there....My question is would you give educated Muslims proper working opportunities or not as the Chinese are provided so."

Banerjee seems to imply that it is the responsibility of the government to "provide" education. He also believes that Australia must provide "proper working opportunities" to Muslims (from Lebanon). And then he implies that Australia is providing opportunities to Chinese people but not to Muslims.

What can I say? Banerjee is wrong on every front.

-- It is wrong to assume that the government will provide education to people. People should seek education.

-- It is even more wrong to assume that government of a nation should provide education to immigrants.

-- It is also wrong to assume that Chinese people in Australia are successful because Australian government provides education to them.
