Muslims are what Islam Makes of ThemReader comment on item: [The Issue of Compulsion in Religion:] Islam is What Its Followers Make of It Submitted by Gamaliel Isaac (United States), Oct 7, 2004 at 10:48 Daniel Pipes' conclusion that Islam is what its followers make of it, is true. One can read "I will instill terror into the hearts of the unbelievers, Smite ye above their necks and smite all their finger tips of them. (Koran 8:12)" and come up with a clever interpretation as to why it doesn't mean what it literally says, or one can honestly believe that it does mean what it says and as a good militant Muslim do what it says. There are a lot of militant Muslims out there which is why we have a problem.Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes.
