Reader comment on item: [The Issue of Compulsion in Religion:] Islam is What Its Followers Make of It
in response to reader comment: Why is there such an anti- Hindu hysteria among some muslims?

Sir...Thanks for the question about HInduism....Everybody knows that the Hindus valued the search for god...as they had the general idea that all religions are pathways to Truth...For them life and sanctifying it are generally more important than dogma...(Of course like all human beings Hindus too have had their faults)...But generally, bigotry is not one of them.. According to A.L.Basham, the earliest certain reference to the Jews is a tenth century charter by which the king of the Cheras, Bhaskara Ravivarman, gave lands and privileges to a Jew named Joseph Rabbaan..; but the tradition of the Jews of Malabar tells of a large settlement at Cochin in the first century A.D. In any case the Jewish community has existed in India for over a millenium. And the first Jew to be attacked was in Bombay 26 / 11. Anger and enmity are not the monopoly of any one human group, but certain idealogies tend to spark more of it. All humans should take care to protect their humanity and guard themselves against all bigotry and hatred...
