Does Allah protect Mecca and Medina from al-Ta'oon including the Coronavirus? It seems that this is not true

Dr Pipes,

As expected Muslims, including an adjunct professor at Rutgers University who is a Palestinian Muslim believe that the Coronavirus pandemic is Allah's punishment for the kuffar in general and the Chinese in particular

https://www.memri.org/reports/nj-friday-sermon-mohammad-abbasi-rutgers-university-faculty-member-coronavirus-divine

Then we were reminded that there is a Hadith in both Sahih al-Bukhari an Sahih Muslim about the fact that both Medina and Mecca are protected by angels from a-Ta'oon (the word al-Ta'oon or الطاعون really means a disease where many people die so fast and now it really means the plague but it can also mean pandemics)

And here is the Hadith in Arabic so no one can say that we kuffar are making things up

قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم على انقاب المدينة ملاءكة لا يدخلها الطاعون ولا الدجال

This can be rendered as: The prophet of Allah may Allah pray upon him and salute him said that al-Medina is protected by angels and al-Ta'oon and al-Dajjal cannot enter it!

Here is a link to the Hadith

Well, the smart Saudis know better and the travel to Mecca and Medina has been halted because of the Coronavirus pandemic

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2020/02/saudi-arabia-halts-travel-mecca-medina-coronavirus-200227054424029.html

This means that the Hadith is either correct, or the Saudis don't believe Muhammad! What a disaster
