Preaching vs Action

Reader comment on item: [The Issue of Compulsion in Religion:] Islam is What Its Followers Make of It

Submitted by Hari Iyer (United States), Sep 28, 2004 at 23:54

One can judge a person by what he does, and not by what he intends.

Similarly, one can judge a Muslim by his actions, and not what he says Islam intends.

Having good intentions alone does not cut it. For every act of savagery, militant Islamic apologists will say it is only tribal, cultural and specific to that community. But when one analyses that savagery, like honor killing, one notes that such horrific acts occur in all parts of the world that are controlled by islamists, be it the Sudan, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Iran, Iraq, Pakistan and so forth. Then one realizes it is not cultural or tribal whitewash, but rather is the intrepretation from the Koran by its militant adherents in all these countries, under the guise of sharia laws and so forth. One has to take it militant islam by its adherents' behavior and not its theoretical 'tolerance' .

Besides, to me militant Islam is nothing more than a sophisticated land-grab scheme. Its adherents go to a place, ethnically cleanse the area of its non-Muslim natives, giving them 3 choices-either convert, stay as 2nd class citizens or force non-Muslims to leave their native land.

This situation happened in Kashmir, happened in southern Phillipines, happened in Timor, happened in Chechnya, happened in Bosnia, is happening in some parts of Sri Lanka, is happening in Bangladesh. Bangladesh's once-significant minority non-Muslim population has been reduced to less than 1 million. The gov't has been established as an Islamic gov't, has enacted specific laws stipulating that owners of land who don't live on land would lose that land-followed by terrorising non-islamic natives from their land either by intimidation or outright violence with non-muslim natives with no option but to desert their land, leaving the Islamic gov't to deed that deserted land to Muslims instead of rightful non-Muslim owners.

Watch out France, watch out UK, watch out politically correct Europe and Canada. Your turn is coming soon.
