Walter, I was a born muslim but left it a while back after reading quran with an open mind and reading hadiths and sira. There are many like me with muslim names who left islam but stay quiet as islam has been the harshest on apostates and critics . Mohammed had them beheaded and quran says kill the renegades (4.89). Quran complains about the doubters (muslims) calling them hippocrites in many suras.

Internet is exposing the very soft underbelly of islam through websites like faithfreedom.org and what is really in quran by prophetofdoom.net. You will not believe but a big majority of muslims are ignorant of what is in quran and how Mohammed lived his life in Madina. They include educated people like Mueen uddin who thinks "Quran has all the sciences in it, islam brought democracy to the world and islam is peaceful". These people are brainwashed about these islamic myths since birth and refuse to open their mind and maintaining their blind fait

Dr Ali Sina (faithfreedom international), the well known ex muslim scholar believes that with the advent of internet islam will be exposed for what it really is... and will shrink to insignificance within a forseeable future .Ex muslims Dr Ibn Warraq, Anwar Shaikh, and Ali Dashti have written excellent books exposing islam. Foremost among women ex-muslims exposing islam are Irshad Manji, Ayan Hisrsi Ali and Dr Tasleema Nasreen. An ex mulim woman in Canada fought off imposition of sharia laws on canadian muslins.
