Response to Reuben Horne on Hindu fundamentalism

in response to reader comment: This is what Hindus have faced all along!

The reason for Hindu verbal (and sometimes physical) attacks on churches is not the hate of the Christianity as religion, but rather the Hindu anger at the conversion campaign conducted by Christian evangelical fundamentalists which in many cases is based on deception or outright bribing, offering material benefits etc. Hindus in general are against conversions. They think that the most people can quite happily live in the religion of their ancestors, while those not very numerous spiritual seekers who maybe are not fully satisfied with their ancestral religion seek guidance and try to find their gurus themselves and have no need to be offered an "evangelization", espacially with such insistence and obtrusiveness as evangelical do.

Of course, I must admit that lastly there has been a movement in India to reconduce the people, who themselves or their forefathers have converted out of Hindu fold to Islam or Christianity(but culturally remained mostly Hindus), back to their original faith. I think we Europeans could learn from Hindus in this respect - if the Muslims of Middle East continue to misbehave in the way they do currently - maybe we will have to think how to reconvert them to their "original faith", be it Christianity, a sort of Mediterranian Neoplatonic Paganism, Shamanism or Zoroastrianism. While Hindu will try to reconvert their strayed-away brethren in South Asia and Indonesia.
