'Headscarf is One of the Reasons for Riots'

The UK's official religious authority, Anglican Church leader Archbishop Rowan Williams pointed at the headscarf ban in force in France as one of the factors on "the negative atmosphere" in this country.

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Williams, who is in Brussels to have contacts with the European Union, EU, institutions told Zaman he does not want to set a direct relationship between the riots in France and the ban of the headscarf; however, the ban has had an effect on the negative atmosphere in the country and has became one of the elements of the riots.

The religious leader also contradicted the Catholic world's religious authority, the Vatican, about Turkey's prospective membership to the Union. He supports Turkey's entry to the EU, and Williams said that a healthy relationship can be established between the worlds of Christianity and Islam through this accession. This could also bring an end to Muslims in Europe feeling like a "foreigner or minority". To the contrary, Pope XVIth Benedict, in the interviews he gave as Cardinal Ratzinger, clearly opposed Turkey's prospective EU membership.

My input: Excuses, Excuses & more Excuses. One Excuse they have no jobs. Another Excuse they live in a ghetto
And this Excuse is the headscarf. What next?
