Response to Sultans hatred of America

Reader comment on item: Reflections on the Revolution in France*
in response to reader comment: Victims of Racism

Having read the comments, the one that stands out to most as an American is Sultan's, who started out by attributing the hatred of muslims toward western society as America's fault.

("These who feel sympathy to the terrorists are mainly some Arabs who are harmed by USA. I and millions hate them".) Meanwhile, thousands of Americans and Billions of dollars from America are pouring into Pakistan in an attempt to save muslim lives, while thousands of our own people are homeless from hurricanes hitting our coasts. And yet... for some odd reason, fueled by what I consider to be racism, you hate us.

Does America always do right in the world? No... I am not such a fool as to try and make that claim. Do we deserve to be hated for screwing some things up? No, just as every Turk does not deserve to be hated for the Turkish treatment of Kurds. You can hate us... and when you need money for your country... perhaps a major disaster hits... America will be there again. And Europe will be there again. And we will be bombed and kidnapped and gunned down... yet we will be there.

The problems in France and elsewhere in Europe are not remotely connected to America's sometimes faulty policies in the world. They are home-grown, and hopefully they will be able to work things out peacefully... but that will mean that muslims will need to take peaceful measures too. We are ready... are you?
