in response to reader comment: Who has broken the enigma for real

Submitted by sonsam (United States), Sep 13, 2006 at 22:59

Rejewski a Polish mathematician broke the code for the first Enigma machine (1 rotor). However the Germans invented subsequent enigma machines that eventually had I think 7 rotors to it...may of been five not positive. Regardless, this went beyond the realm of mathematical equation, and entered the world of high-speed computation that only a computer could achieve. The guy that solved solved the German's most advanced Enigma machine was an American recruited from the National Cash Registry company(NCR). I don't remeber his name however but i'm sure if your interested you can find it on the internet.

Of course if it wasn't for Rejewski and British advancement and cooperation with the United States the latest enigma would of never of been solved.....You don't get to point c without going thru a and b. Power to the people who share a same interest.
