Why is America so self-confident ?

Reader comment on item: Europeans: From Venus?

Submitted by Sabrina (Belgium), Jul 17, 2002 at 09:19

I'm European and the problem between Amercican and European is due to the fact that Americans seem really arrogant. Indeed how can one state judge what's good or bad for the entire world?

They give the impression that they want to rule everything in the world and sometimes they cause a lot of troubles like in Vietnam. In the article it's said about Europe's error (Balkan) but not about America's.

When they handle a problem abroad, is it for ethic reason ? for freedom ? or only interest ? I'm not saying that Europe does not but Europe doesn't claim it has the moral fibre.
