America vs Europe

Reader comment on item: Europeans: From Venus?

Submitted by J.Aregger (United States), Sep 18, 2002 at 19:49

It is clear to me that America cannot be compared to Europe. There is a very simple fact, that is, Europe comprises several independent countries. Therefore, Europe is politically plural. Under the present circumstances, I do not believe we could say the same about America. President Bush can do what he thinks is appropiate and have the support of a missinformed American society.

And about "european superiority", I also believe that this is evident as far as international awareness is concerned. What do the average American know about the world? What do the average European know about the world?

Is the world in safe hands then?

Europeans should ensure that America "behaves", just like the oposition controls the goverment.
