Reader comment on item: Europeans: From Venus?
in response to reader comment: Europa super omnia!!!

November 18, 2009. We'll address the issue of the impunity that can be described in the running undertone of Regnum Lusitanicum, that in it there are the reasons one sees that the former colonialist attitudes of the European mentality are indeed still alive, and the idea of using a language now reserved to the ministrations of the Roman Church to support the sensibilities presented seems appropriate.

It is a mistake to assess to the American people all the attributes of the government-especially the arrogance of the current American Administration, for in these modern times there is enough of a polemic in the American political arena that it causes confusion to any who do not really understand America and its ways of citizenship. No other country in the world will ever be able to define America in the way the founding framers intended, for it was in the repudiation of the other governments of the world at that time that America was formed, and it still took over a hundred years to make that point known to the rest of the world's governments.

It is a continuing mistake to infer that America has imperialist intentions; that America enveloped the North American continent is manifest, but America does not hold the entire continent, sharing it with its neighbors. Can we say the same about Portugal tucked in the corner of the Iberian peninsula, in whose history we see their own imperialist manifestations; Rio de Janeiro and Macao come to mind as a minimum gesture. Let us look also at the most noble Great Britain and her former empire, from whom America had to wrench herself in order to obtain justice for a disenfranchised people. In that, French or German, the languages still alive in North American culture (latin has always been taught here, but for reasons of a different culture) could have been just as easily employed.

Were America still a colony, the Russians would hold the northwest and Alaska, the Spaniards the southwest and southeast (annexations of Mexico –California, Texas, -Florida et al), the French in the north and south, etc., etc., etc. Whoops, where were the Portuguese? Yet, leave not to forget the hordes of former Europeans that came to America for the last couple hundred of years, for the better life afforded here. These things are not hard to understand, that America is a FORMER holding of each of these FORMER superpowers, that Europe's current strength is maintained through alliances of a tentative nature for fear of a resurgent dominant power. Somebody tell us again: How long does it/did it take for all the participating countries to adopt the Euro?

Now, it is true there is a possible resurgence of European power to be experienced in future world events, yet there is a caution to that as alluded to in Dr. Pipes' assertions. What will be seen then is that there is a reason Europe eschews the use of force, for if anything is learned about European history, it is that they cannot be trusted to wield power except in the misuse of it.

Now, further, there is a reason that there is the appearance that America seems to be ignoring Europe. It is hard to maintain a friendship if there is the constant 'badmouthing' that comes from across the Atlantic. After a while, the relationship is like that of a husband taking a mistress (China) because the wife (Europe) no longer understands him, even if there is no intimacy with the mistress.

As mentioned before there is a dynamic permeating the world scene, that in the perennial pursuit of modern peace, its illusivity cannot be fathomed because, even in its distancing itself from the armed means to achieve certain objectives, Europe must eventually concede that an armed power will be necessary to maintain peace, and that power will be exercised to obtain the final solution. In that, the strength of mankind will be tested to its maximum tolerance. Be patient, that time is shortly upon us all, and possibly the American Administration will be there for the initiation of it; the finish according to the Eternal Sovereign remains to be seen.
