Reader comment on item: How the West Could Lose

You made a point. It's not Israel's fault (though they dont help the matter) that the image of Muslims is like this. It is not America's fault that people are scared of us on planes. It is our own fault.

It is not the cartoonists fault when he mocks the prophet (pbuh), but the ummah's, because it is just a reaction to a percieved threat. Not enough Muslims portray Islam properly these days. The only ones average Americans see are the ones who kill people at sbarro's. And that is the Muslims fault, because we are not showing the right image.

We need to realize that talking does not solve the problem, we can talk all day, and people wil never be convinced. This forum is evidence. I can say the truth about how I am not a terrorist and how Islam is peaceful but at the end of the day without any actions no one will believe me.

Muslims must show through our actions that Islam is good and right. We need to show the people that wake up, make coffee, and turn on the today show and see death and destruction caused by purported Muslims that we arent those people, because we arent. We need to show them that we are good friends, good neighbors, good people, ones who would do anything to help another, whether the person in need of help was a Muslim or a Jew or an atheist.

It is sad that we have not better served the deen that we have been given by Allah (swt), and I hope that not by talk, but by actions, that we can show the whole world, from the East Coast, to the West Coast, and across the shining seas that we are not the thugs and killers they see on Fox News Sunday, we are good caring people. And it doesnt matter what I say on this forum, the only thing that matters is how I act and how I represent Islam. I hope those reading will understand this, because I truly wish all of you the best, I hope that you all have a happy life, that you are free to do what you will, and if Allah is willing that you learn the truth about the greatness of Islam.

There is a hadith told often, about the Prophet (pbuh) and his neighbors.

Once, their was a woman, a Jewish woman, who lived near the Prophet (pbuh). She did not like the Prophet so each day she put her trash in front of his door. Each day the Prophet would see her doing this and move the trash. One day, she fell ill, and the Prophet inquired about her. He came to her house and siad he hoped that she would get better soon. She became a Muslim because of this.

I am not saying this to try to prove a point about each thing that ever happened to the Prophet. I am saying this to show that this is the character that was shown by the Prophet of Allah and this is the kind of character Muslims need to show everyone. We need to realize that we have the best example before us, and we should follow it, study it, and implement it our life.

We have been shown the way of guidance by the Prophet (pbuh) who was a great and honorable man, but we need to remember to show this in our daily life.
