Muslims suppress free debate on anti Semitism at Leeds University, UK

in response to reader comment: Hypocrisy - thy name is....

I read and view with concern the news that the University of Leeds has cancelled a lecture to be delivered by German academic Matthias Kuntzel on the subject of Islamic anti-Semitism after complaints by Muslim students. Any attempt to suppress intellectual debate is to be strongly deplored, particularly when I suspect that the objections emanate from foreign students whose academic tuition and privileges are probably funded by the British taxpayer.

The behaviour of the University authorities in this matter is deplorable when they adopt double standards in terms that these same Muslim students are free to propagate anti-Semitic literature on Campus and openly demonstrate their hostility to Jewish students. I really fear for the safeguard of not only civil liberties in this Country, but also for the spread of this intolerance which is so alien to our Society. Is it not time that we stood up to be counted on an issue which strikes such a fundamental blow at our long cherished democracy?
