Hi Jaladhi

The first time I read the infamous Q8:41 where Allah says that he and Muhammad must get 1/5 of the loot , slaves and all, taken from infidels, I just could not believe it that the God of the universe will do such a thing.

But if you read the Qur'an Allah descirbes himself as makkar (deciever), kayyid (to dupe, trick, to plot, deception, i think you get the idea) and then you see Allah asking Muslims to "qatil fi sabeel Allah" or fight in the cause of Allah, and it makes you wonder why would a deity that is supposed to be omnipotent ask mere human beings to fight in his cause when he can change our minds and hearts without wars. But may be the ultimate was ayat al-sayf (Q9:4) where Allah orders Muslims to kill in his name. What is also strange is that Allah comes across as full of hate, anger and insecurity. This cannot be a God

But the strange fact about Islam is the holy book of Islam is nothing but poor literature and it is just as bad and confusing in Arabic as in any translation. I find it funny when Pakistanis that know no Arabic tell us that in-order to appreciate the Qur'an we must read it in Arabic a language that they do not know!
