Reader comment on item: Europe's Stark Options

Submitted by Singha (India), Mar 1, 2007 at 22:31

Belief in Christianism and Fighting Islamism are mutually exclusive. Christianism historically too been part of the problem. Bible has significant similarities to the Quran.

European progress was accompanied by rediscovery of Pagan - Greek and Roman Roots and applying the light of reason to bible. Freedom from Christian Dark ages was accompanied by progressive jettisoning of biblical beliefs. We all know the difficulty Christianism had/has accepting Galileo, Copernicus and Darwin. Deleterious impact of Christianity is the reason why the wise founding fathers correctly kept Christianism out of United States Governance.

Muslim Integration (Scenario III) is a pipe dream. Muslims have never integrated without coercive power applied on them. Quran explicitly asks Muslims not to integrate and asks them to dominate non-Muslims.

The long term solution is secularizing Islamism. This will call for Quran and Mohummad being interpreted in the light of rationality rather than belief. Unlike in the case of Christianism and Judaism, secularising of Islamism is unlikely to be a voluntary activty. That is a challenge which statemen in Europe and elsewhere need to address head on quickly. If they dont, either of the scenarios I or II will materialise.
