Western Media unwilling to offer honest portrayal of facts

Reader comment on item: Europe's Stark Options

Submitted by Glenn (Republic Of Korea), Mar 1, 2007 at 18:24

Why is this issue not being debated in the mainstream media?

The situation in Europe is a harbinger for what may happen in the U.S.A. in the near future. Thus, this issue is of critical importance to each and every American.

Currrently it is very difficult to obtain unbiased factual information on these types of issues. Unfortuately the mainstream media affects the opinions and voting-preferences for the majority of the population. Since politicians' viewpoints are shaped primarily by the opinions of the masses, the power of the mainstream media is substantial.

If not for books, articles, and weblogs from experts such as Dr. Pipes, there would be little opportunity for the average American to make informed judgments on these issues.

I applaud Dr. Pipes' thought-provoking article and am inspired to do further research to better understand this critical issue.
