Ellis Island will need to reopen for business!

Reader comment on item: Europe's Stark Options

Submitted by Pez Dispenser (Israel), Mar 2, 2007 at 12:24

Throughout the 19th century, the midwest assimilated countless numbers of new settlers from Germany and Sweden. I predict that within the next 50 years the USA, for the first time in over 150 years, will see a huge wave of northern European immigration.

What will happen to Europe? I predict a mixed bag of what Dr. Pipes was talking about. Northern Ireland-esque situations will start festering between Islamists and nationalist thugs, with the moderate governments straining to keep the peace. In some of the cities of Europe, the young apolitical people who like the good life will start leaving at first to quieter areas of the EU, but with more and more heading to Australia/ New Zealand and even capitalist North America. Dutch emmigration is already in the news, and may mirror the Israeli/ Lebanese emmigrations of the past 40 years.
