Interesting quotation of G.K. Chesterton, in the National Interest "When men stop believing in God they don't believe in nothing; they believe in anything."

There is a similar quote attributed to Benjamin Disraeli ( 1st Earl of Beaconsfield) :

" Man is being born to believe. And if no church comes forward with its title deeds of truth to him, he will find altars and idols in his own heart and his own imagination."
